Meet Dr. Anisha Patel

Anisha Patel, MSc., Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist who treats patients who face a wide range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, career stress and burnout, maternal mental health, and ethnic bicultural identity formation. Dr. Patel is a flexible clinician whose worked for a decade in a variety of mental health and clinical research settings in the United Kingdom, Canada, and United states with children, teens, and adults.

Having lived abroad and raised in a close-knit South Asian family, she sees the current limitations in the field as its origins stem from a white, male, hierarchical approach where the therapist holds power. Dr. Patel is a collaborative practitioner who adapts traditional theoretical frameworks to meet the needs of her diverse patients. Equally, she enjoys working with children of immigrants who are navigating difficult professional, familial, and relational expectations.

At this juncture in her professional career, Dr. Patel has gained further specialty in treating women during their reproductive years, including the psychological trauma, anxiety, and depression that comes with infertility, pregnancy, motherhood, and miscarriage. By creating a safe environment where her clients feel understood, and free from judgement, she is able to help her clients strengthen their own inner resources.
